Overview
Not long after I joined DataRobot, I started a build club! I was inspired by some of the tools being built by our team and wanted to learn from and watch how they get built in real-time. Co-hosted by our DevRel gal, Amber, we started an internal community within our org to inspire people to build with our own platform and create AI Agents live in a 1-hour session. We did 9 sessions across 4 months, and I wrote every recap; not minutes, but actual write-ups my team would want to read, with the specifics and the quotes left in. Two things came out of it that I didn't plan for: First, it became a real feedback channel back to engineering: errors people hit while building got surfaced in a room where someone could do something about it, and have the recording to refer back to. Second, it got marketers hands-on with the product early. We had someone demo a product live in a session before it shipped, which meant the people writing about it had actually used it. It's difficult to write credibly for developers when your only exposure to the product is a slide about it, and Build Club quietly fixed that for a bunch of us who needed to see it used in real use cases.
